![]() ![]() There are plenty of battle royale games around now but the lore of the Vampire: The Masquerade universe and the ability to play as vampires should make for a unique experience. Characters are highly customizable and throughout matches you’ll be able to feed on blood and use it to power your vampire abilities. In Bloodhunt you’ll be able to choose a Clan, with each clan allowing for different play styles. ![]() Players now battle in brutal battle royale matches to become the ultimate vampire and restore the masquerade. What’s more, vampires are also being hunted down by a secret society called the Entity. Regardless, if Apex Legends has soured you with its removal of tap strafing and you don’t feel like playing against aim assist, definitely give Bloodhunt early access a try.Alpha sign ups are now live for Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodhunt, a new battle royale game set in the Vampire: The Masquerade universe, with plenty of blood-splattered third person combat as players compete to be the last vampire standing.īloodhunt takes place at a time when a treacherous betrayal has sparked a bloody war between vampires. Perhaps we’ll learn whether Theo Bell is involved in the current Bloodhunt that’s sweeping Prague right now. Hopefully, when Bloodhunt leaves alpha, there will be opportunities for seasonal events and battle passes to coincide or immerse themselves more in the lore of Vampire: the Masquerade. It was a cool moment that combined sound cues from car alarms going off after my opponent landed on one, noticing laser sights being pointed at me from enemy NPC guns, and seeing a nearby ambulance that had the blood packs I desperately needed to restore health. In one match, I led an opponent into a crowd of enemy NPCs and let them down him as I retreated using my character’s stealth ability. This perk itself makes high-rarity Scourge Blades a worthwhile pickup.Īfter some time in both solo and party queues, I can say that Bloodhunt is a tight, movement-oriented battle royale that makes good use of its urban setting and provides a variety of context-sensitive options that smart players will take advantage of. Melee killing a downed enemy is a good compromise if you want to restore some health rather quickly. Diablerizing can restore your health and grant buffs, but it leaves you open to getting downed yourself. Whether this perk works on downed enemies is uncertain, but if it does, it gives players a middle-ground between diablerizing (think finishers in Apex Legends) and gunning down a downed enemy. Melee weapons now have a lifesteal perk that converts 50% of player damage to health. It’s hard to do melee weapons right in a battle royale title as the range and damage of firearms create too much risk for players to rely on melee. ![]() Bloodhunt is a rather active game with some interesting movement mechanics for aerial gunfights, so to have players sit on rooftops and wait for stragglers kind of defeats this core design principle. The game’s zone, or ‘red gas,’ now moves more aggressively during the mid-game, encouraging players to move into the map rather than sit on the boundaries and pick off stray players. This change is especially helpful as cycling through the tab menu or consumable menu takes up too much time, especially when you’re retreating from a gunfight. Key bindings can be changed so that players can use their preferred set-up for different actions in-game. ![]()
